When asked “What’s your favorite food?” I conservatively answered, “EVERYTHING.” Hehe.
–and that’s pretty much how I’ll sum up my dining experience at Crepe Amelie.
We, Filipinos, are known for our intense love for “Sweets” (may it be in food or in people, char!). I literally cannot survive a day without consuming any amount of sugar in my system so when I was invited to check out a restaurant which sounded sweeter than my Cherry Chapstick, I danced “NAENAE” for a second or so, got my purse, modeled 360, and headed to one of the busiest cities in the metro, MAKATI.
Despite the one-footstep-per-hour traffic situation in Makati, Waze was able to help me get to Crepe Amelie at A Venue Mall (from my pad in Sta. Mesa) in only 35mins. I was actually surprised to find a quaint and cozy restaurant in that particular area and I was really glad that it’s where I’ll be “beasting”out (coz pigging out is such an understatement).
I’ve tried too many crepes in my life and I must say, Crepe Amelie’s crepe selection is ON FLEEK! It offers a wide range of savory and sweet crepes which were not only instagramably good-looking, but were also “OH-MY-GOD-ANG-SARAP-DARLA-TIKMAN-MO” levels.
I started devouring the savory crepes. I like that the thin crepe layer allowed me to appreciate its rich flavor (Don’t you just love getting full not because the crepe feels heavy but because no one chose to scrimp on ingredients?)
Since I’m an absolute egg-lover ( and I give you the freedom to interpret this in any way that would please you. CZAR!), I instantly fell in love with Crepe Madame which is made up of poached eggs, ham, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and emmental cheese.
My second favorite is the Roast Beef Crepe which was very tender and flavorful.
Aside from savory crepes, Crepe Amelie also offers salads, sandwiches, and pasta..all of which made from the freshest ingredients.
The highlight, really, of my dining experience was the DESSERT. Well, we all know what a typical crepe looks like but what caught my attention was their CAKE. It looks like a normal cake–but not until you slice it and find out that it is actually made of CREPE–thin layers of crepe. LOVED.IT. The crepe cake maintained its soft consistency despite being stored in the refrigerator and it tasted really good (especially the chocolate cake, ghaaaaa) It wasn’t too sweet, wasn’t nakakaumay. HAHHAHA
Aside from the crepe cakes, they also offer dessert crepes which are equally satisfying. The dessert crepes tasted so good, I S.W.E.A.R. it’s a bit sweeter than the cake but I really didn’t mind coz you know, “wala ng makakapigil sa akin!” My favorite among the dessert crepes was S’mores made up of a rich milk chocolate filling, graham crumble, and toasted marshmallow!
All in all, Crepe Amelie offers a unique experience with crepes that are as visually appealing as they are delicious. Visit them at A. Venue Mall, (ground floor in front of the open parking) Makati City.
